The Cobb Park/FRG Weekend is a new favorite for me

The two courses couldn't be more different

Both are a blast for opposite reasons

Cobb Park is Pizza slice shape Crit with a final 90 degree corner you can smoke as hot as you like,

Leaning in, no Brakes 30+ mph...My favorite !!!

The Race becomes like a video game, focusing in on lines, pack positioning and energy efficiency.

I wasn't sure how i was going to feel after my embarrassing DNF at Sherman Park

Feeling surprising solid, my confidence rose as the minutes grew

xXx was chasing down all moves and creating chaos at the front

Lt. Kirby was barking orders and we were following them, I love racing with Him, Luke or Shane because of their leadership and quality race decision making...

When Kirby yells "Newt !! Get up front and block, I put the Hammer down and move up 20 spots to the front with a xXx brother and disrupt the crap out of the chase..

Finally Peter gets away with Jason from Burnham and I feel confident that our cumulative numbers will let the break stick and Peter will crush as he has all year, and I go back into sniper mode, conserving, waiting and watching the lap counter drop 3,2...

I roll to about 8th wheel, as we approach the bell lap, there is a lull in the tempo and I slide up to Kyle's wheel and tell him, I'm on Brother, lets do this...He proceeds to drop the Hammer for a full lap, stringing it out, carving up the course. We hit the final corner doing 30+ mph, no brakes, Moto GP style and like an excited Puppy Dog I blow it and jump from 300 meters...Man I was killin it for 200 of those, then 4 racers nipped me in slow motion at the Line for the field sprint...@#%@%$#@ !!..The good news.. as I suspected Peter did Crush and we get the W

The selflessness and Teamwork in this race was brilliant, riding Kyle's wheel is a luxury all of you should experience, Strong as an Ox, He reminds me a bit of the likes of the old school xXx'ers Soren or George as in eye watering power with silky smoothness, like a super charged Caddilac..I'm sorry I spoiled such a brilliant lead out, I won't make that mistake again anytime soon

FRG

I had no expectations about this race

I just wanted to finish, No DNF and get some good work in for Proctor next weekend

After a short warm up, I laughingly threaten a first lap suicide attack with Luke, Dave and Peter...whistle blows and we're off..

something strange happens, I feel good...

This course is amazing, The climb is a perfect length for me and the descent is a carnival ride that you can power thru rocketing no brake aggressive lines..

The race progresses and attacks start coming, nothing crazy just little probing gaps, but their effective enough to let Dave roll away with one Burnham then we let Al from Cuttin Crew bridge, then Luke jumps, then Jason from Burnham

The numbers are set and I sit at the front with Jeff Watt controlling the tempo watching our boys roll away, occasionally someone would make a wet noodle attempt to bridge but would become disheartened when i would sit on em like an Anchor.

With 3 to go Jeff Watt from Burnham put in a dig up the climb and I stuck to him like glue, At the top left to the down hill I look back and there wasn't a soul in sight...

"Jeff !! We got a Gap !!" He looks at me with snot hanging from his face and says "THEN F@#%'N PEDAL !!" so I oblige and carve a neat line back to the Start/Finish with 2 to go..

We decide to settle in and rotate thru several times sharing the load thru the course.

Passing thru the 1 to go sign, I notice another Burnham rider trying to Bridge to us, we make the left and I stand and put in a solid effort up the hill, at the crest i sit, but I keep mad pressure on the pedals thru the false flat, making the left its just 2 of us again...perfect

For me, this is the race, I did my job and will not be denied 2 days in a row..

We settled in on the descent, I pulled then sat up and He moved to the front and I made myself tiny

conserving everything..the last corner in sight I'm on him like glue, I carve a strong line just inside his and yell at him "Strait up !!, Lets do this !!"..not out of disrespect but because I respect Jeff a lot and wanted a heads up sprint..

Fortunately I got him and nabbed 7th, first non break away...

I'll take it..

Once again, We get the W

and a happy Car ride home with Dave, who is having an amazing year as well

More to Come
