XXX Racing-AthletiCo is proud of junior John Tomlinson, who this week won the prestigious Bob Pfarr Classic, a 150-lap points race at the Washington Park Velodrome in Kenosha, Wis. It was a fast, competitive field that included many of the all-stars of Midwest track racing, but Tomlinson was able to lap the field four times and score 53 points, 8 more than his closest rival. Key to Tomlinson’s success was strong teamwork. Helping control the race were Ed Amstutz, Mike Kirby, Matt Moran, Shane Winn and our coach, Randy Warren, whose 2007 victory at this race was successfully defended. As Tomlinson told the Kenosha News: "I found myself in a break, looked back, and all my team was just out in the front. And then when I lapped, my team was on the front again. Then once it started getting close towards the end, my team was on the front, drilling it, taking away points. In sprints, I would yell, (and) they would let up and let me take higher points. There's no way I would have done that without them." A total of four XXX Racing-AthletiCo riders placed in the top 10. "From a track racing perspective, this was the most dialed-in team effort I've ever seen from XXX Racing-AthletiCo," said Winn, who placed 7th. "I was really proud to be a part of it, and even happier to see John win it." Tomlinson has been having success on the road, too, consistently placing in the top 10 at the Superweek races he has participated in. In fact, just the day before the Bob Pfarr Classic he placed 8th in the 55-mile Tour of Holy Hill.
